Winifred M. Phillips, 93, died October 2, 2008 at Hutchinson Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born May 8, 1915 in Russell County, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Gillman) Whitman. She married Paul Gooch Phillips November 23, 1935 at Lyons, Kansas. He died July 1, 2004. A homemaker, Mrs. Phillips was a lifetime resident of Great Bend. Mrs. Phillips was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include one son, Paul G. Phillips, Jr., Hutchinson, Kansas; one daughter, Marilyn Hamill, O'Fallon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kevin Hamill, Todd Hamill, and Tori Tschannen; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Hamill, Devin Hamill, Brady Hamill, Kirsten Adams, and Joseph Hamill. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Joseph Hamill, and two sisters, Sarah Carrington and Viola Gibson. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2008 at Great Bend Cemetery. The Reverend William F. Johnson will officiate. Friends may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Hospice Care of Kansas, Hutchinson, in care of the funeral home.
