Wilmer "Wimpy" Sander, 80, died August 19, 2012 at his home, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born November 14, 1931 at Victoria, Kansas, the son of Joe J. and Adeline (Meis) Sander. He married Norma Jean Engel February 12, 1952 at Ellis, Kansas. A Great Bend resident for fifty-four years, coming from Otis, Kansas, Mr. Sander was a meat cutter for McCurdy Locker, Wimpy's Meat and Locker Service, and Central Kitchen. Mr. Sander was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Engel, of the home; one son, Keith Sander and his wife Shirley (Dreiling), Turpin, Oklahoma; three daughters: Kathy Levingston and companion Marvin Ward, Great Bend; Karen Lofland and her husband James A., Great Bend; and Kimberly Donovan and her husband Kenton, Hoisington, Kansas; one brother, Francis Sander, Jacksonville, Arkansas; two sisters: Armella Johnson, Lewisberg, West Virginia; and Wanita "Sandy" Basgall, Great Bend; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Sander, Melvin Sander, and Gilbert Sander; and two sisters, Leona VonFeldt; and Cecelia Dreiling. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. Family Rosary will be at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Father Don Bedore will be celebrant. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Barton County Special Services or Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the funeral home.
