William R. "Bill" Rhodes, 63, died August 3, 2010 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was born April 12, 1947 at Beloit, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Ruth (Applebee) Rhodes. He married Penny Sizemore September 23, 1989 at Saint John, Kansas. A Great Bend resident for thirty-two years, coming from Concordia, Kansas, Mr. Rhodes was a driver and warehouseman for Stickney Distributing, retiring in May 2009. He was a United States Navy veteran during Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Penny Rhodes, of the home; one son: Lance Rhodes, Great Bend; two daughters: Miranda Garcia, Hutchinson, Kansas; and Lyndel Theis and husband Russ, Pratt, Kansas; and eight grandchildren: Jerod Theis, Brooke Theis, Travis Theis, Kami Theis, Jaycie Theis, Brittney Garcia, Austin Garcia, and Sierra Garcia. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Kay Hyman and LaWanda Webb. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Bryant Funeral Home with George Shelton officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at Randall Cemetery, Randall, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been established with the American Diabetes Association or Barton County Relay for Life, both in care of the funeral home.
