Mr. Hinkson was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Central Kansas Photography Club, Barton County Historical Society, Great Bend Chamber of Commerce and the NRA. He was a former Great Bend Rotary Club member, where was a Paul Harris Fellow. He enjoyed motorcycling, photography, crafting, woodworking and leather work. He also held a private pilot's license.

Survivors include his wife Maxie Hinkson, of the home; two daughters, Kimberly S. Newell and her husband Roger of Salina and Sherri L. Reed of Salina; sister-in-law, Jeline Hinkson; two grandchildren, Brett Newell and Cory Newell; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Bryson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Dr. Kent T. Hinkson.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016 Bryant Funeral Home, with the Reverend Dick Ogle and Reverend Keith Bryant officiating.  Burial will be in Crandall Union Cemetery, Ness County. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to American Heart Association or First Southern Baptist Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
