Wanda N. Torrez, 84, died December 24, 2011 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born July 31, 1927 at Alden, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and LaVina (McGregor) Ritter. She married Gerald D. Love February 9, 1944 at Sylvia, Kansas. They had three children and later divorced. She married Jesus Torrez in 1975 at Beaver, Oklahoma. He died October 25, 2011. She was a graduate of Sylvia High School. A longtime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Torrez was a waitress for Jamars Cafe, Ralph Wallace, and several other restaurants. Survivors include one son, Jack E. Love and his wife Eileen, Great Bend; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Rodger D. Love; and one daughter, Bonnie L. Love-Powell. Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Great Bend Cemetery. Pastor Don Paden will officiate. Friends may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the funeral home.
