Wanda Mae Smith, 79, died October 7, 2012 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born May 22, 1933, the daughter of Lucius Lee and Gladys Fern Greene Cobb. She married William R. Smith July 1, 1950 at Kansas City, Missouri. He died October 21, 1999. A Great Bend resident since 1999, coming from Kansas City, Mrs. Smith was Manor Bakery department manager, worked for Clarke Printing Co., and was a homemaker. Wanda and Bill enjoyed the pursuit of a good garage sale. She treasured her time with her children, grandchildren, and dogs, Penny and Baby. Above all, she had consistently placed other people's needs ahead of her own, always giving of herself. Survivors include one son, Gary Smith and his wife Wanda, Great Bend; two daughters: Susie Lundquist and her husband Terry, Great Bend; and Debbie Mitchell and her husband Matt, Lee's Summit, Missouri; one sister, Loma Moore, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Jessie, Jennie, Brett, Christy, Sheila, Billie, Amanda, Nathan, Brian, and Donald; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon Cobb and Robert Cobb; and one sister, Lois Faye Cobb. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorials are requested to Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
