Vernon A. Yarmer, 78, died June 21, 2008 at his Russell County, Kansas, home. He was born April 16, 1930 at Rural Russell County, the son of Frank and Mary (Demel) Yarmer. Mr. Yarmer married Arlene C. Stoss May 22, 1956 at Olmitz, Kansas. He was a farmer and stockman and was a lifetime resident of Russell County. Mr. Yarmer was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, a choir member for sixty-two years, Knights of Columbus #2100 - 3rd Degree, and Sunflower Polka Club. He loved playing cards and never met a stranger. Surviving Mr. Yarmer are his wife, Arlene Yarmer, Russell, Kansas; two sons: Robert Yarmer and wife, Valerie, Russell, Kansas; and Verlin "Jr." Yarmer and wife, Susanne, Russell, Kansas; three daughters: Rhonda Glassman and husband, John, Russell, Kansas; Becky Cameron and husband, Allen, Grant City, Missouri; and Rochelle Kuhn and husband, Curtis, Victoria, Kansas; one brother, Milton Yarmer, Olmitz, Kansas; thirteen and one-half grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Yarmer, a brother, Mello Yarmer; and an infant sister, Mary Yarmer. Wake service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, with Father Ultan Murphy celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann Church Choir or the American Cancer Society (Pancreas), in care of the funeral home.
