Vernie W. Bowyer, 51, died November 11, 2009 at his Great Bend, Kansas, residence. He was born June 19, 1958 at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of LaVern George and Jane (Homburg) Bowyer. He was a musician for thirty-three years at Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, Kansas, and playing for many special occations throughout Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend. Mr. Bowyer was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, Kansas. Survivors include his mother, Jane Bowyer, Great Bend, Kansas; one brother, Ernie Bowyer, Great Bend; one nephew, B. J. Bowyer, Coldwater, Kansas; and two great-nephews, A. J. and Alvin Bowyer. He was preceded in death by his father, LaVern Bowyer. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 16, 2009 at Peace Lutheran Church. Pastor Patricia Reep will officiate. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the A. J. and Alvin Bowyer Education Fund, in care of the funeral home.
