Verlin Joseph Schuster, 81, passed away October 1, 2026, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas. He was born on February 8, 1945, in Hays, Kansas, to Frank P. and Mary (Flax) Schuster. On October 12, 1970, he married Luella Urban in Antonino, Kansas.

A longtime resident of Great Bend, Verlin worked as a machinist and supervisor at Great Bend Industries prior to his retirement. When he was younger, Verlin served the county in the Army Reserves for seven years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and Knights of Columbus #862. Verlin had a green thumb, whether gardening, caring for inside and outdoor plants, or mowing yards. He enjoyed setting puzzles, attending football and basketball games at Great Bend High School or Barton Community College, and was creative from tinkering on any and everything, to woodworking where he built things like end tables to banisters. Verlin enjoyed spending time with his family. He was involved in scouting for his kids, to his most cherished time spent supporting his grandchildren in anything they were involved with.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Karen Clark and husband Michael of Great Bend, and Kayleen Morgan and husband John of Buhler; son, Kent Schuster and partner Brad Wagbo of Gowen, Michigan; six grandchildren, Allan Clark and wife Amber, Ryan Clark, Malia Clark and significant other John Lopez, Aaron Clark and significant other Kira Cook, Jonah Morgan, and Calum Morgan; great granddaughter, Lucia Lopez; two brothers, Larry Schuster and wife Mary, and David Schuster and wife Karla; two sisters, Liz Newton, and Mary Lou Newcomer and husband Keevin; sister-in-law, Barb Schuster; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his second family, the Windholtz', whom he spent much valued time.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil Schuster and wife Rosie, LaVerne Schuster, and an infant brother, Francis; and brother-in-law, Jim Newton.
