Ula Hazel Bemis, age 94, died January 19, 2007 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born February 25, 1912 at McPherson, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Wyndora Bruce Falgren. She married Carney W. Bemis December 24, 1933 at McPherson. He died August 15, 1969. Mrs. Bemis was a homemaker and secretary for Bemis Construction. She was a lifetime Great Bend resident. Mrs. Bemis was a member of the First Congregational Church of Christ, Great Bend. Survivors include one son, George and wife, Jane, Great Bend, Kansas; one sister, Zola Brink, LaCrescenta, California; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Falgren and five sisters, Mildred, Iva, Ida, Verna, and infant Frances. A memorial graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2007, at Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, KS, with Pastor John Grummon presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
