Tracey Christopher Smith, 43, died November 10, 2010 at his home, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born June 10, 1967 at Great Bend, the son of Melba Jean (Foos) Smith. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mr. Smith was a police officer for the Great Bend Police Department and was administrator for Barton County Youth Care Girls' Home. Mr. Smith was a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion Argonne Post 180. His hobbies included writing, politics, Ham Radio, and shooting sports. He was a marksman. Survivors include his mother, Melba "Jean" Smith, Great Bend; one sister, Monica Brothers and husband Jim, Los Alamos, New Mexico; two aunts: Freda Broetzmann and husband Ronald, Great Bend; and Guilia Foos ans husband the late Eugene "Bud", Perry, Kansas; two nieces: Missy Brothers and Mandy Brothers; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Philip and Esther Foos. Graveside memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Great Bend Cemetery. The Reverend Tom Sheldon will officiate. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
