Sylvia Jennetta Weltmer, 91, died November 20, 2007 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend. She was born December 14, 1915 at Wilsey, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Virginia Ice Platz. On October 20, 1935 she married John Weltmer at Great Bend. He died August 14, 1980. Sylvia was a secretary for Weltmer Plumbing, Inc. and was a resident of Great Bend most of her life. Survivors include a son, Prentice Weltmer and wife Carol of Great Bend; a daughter, Kathleen Weltmer of Great Bend; five grandchildren, Lori Feck and husband Monty of Winfield, Kansas, Janel Unrein and husband Chris of Wichita, Kansas, Wayne Gregg and wife Rosie of Madison, Alabama, Bonnie Chaney and husband Sid of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Connie Ogden and husband Richard of Ellinwood, Kansas; and seven great-grandchildren. Sylvia was preceded in death by nine brothers and four sisters. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Diana Coberly officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 21, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, November 22, 2007, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, November 23, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to First Congregational United Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
