Steven Paul Schmidtberger, 52, died January 23, 2009 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. He was born July 15, 1956 at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Paul and Vera (Romme) Schmidtberger. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a mechanic for Marmie Motors for twenty-five years and later worked for Great Bend Feeders. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. Survivors include his parents, Paul and Vera Schmidtberger, Great Bend, Kansas; two sons: Andy Schmidtberger, Wichita, Kansas; and Kyle Schmidtberger, Great Bend, Kansas; two daughters: Jamie Vsetecka and Jessica Tomlinson, both of Great Bend, Kansas; one brother: Mark Schmidtberger, Cheney, Kansas; and four grandchildren: Dylan Vsetecka, Sierra Vsetecka; Tysten Tomlinson; and Jordan Schmidtberger. He was preceded in death by one infant son. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend. Father Floyd McKinney will be celebrant. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home.
