Sidney A. Rusco, 90, died September 26, 2008. He was born April 13, 1918 at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of John David and Ollie Ross (Lucas) Rusco. He married Dolores V. Fisher August 1, 1940 at Great Bend. A farmer most of his life, retiring when he was eighty, Mr. Rusco also had a plumbing, heating, and air conditioning business for over twenty-five years. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend. Mr. Rusco served in the United States Air Force during World War II as an airplane mechanic, working on B-17s, B-29s, and AT-6s. He received several medals while serving in the Air Force. Mr. Rusco was a member of First Assembly of God, was the Sunday School Superintendent for thirty-eight years and was a deacon in the church. He loved missions work. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Rusco, of the home; one son, Ronald Rusco, Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Carolee McCullough and husband, Robert, Sacramento, California; three grandchildren: April Denning, Tampa, Florida; Javin Rusco, Lafayette, Indiana; and Jennifer Pennepacker, Temple, Georgia; and three great-grandchildren: Kai Newell-Denning, Jasper Pennepacker, and Dace Rusco. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Lloyd Rusco, Alfred Rusco, Clarence Rusco, and Orville Rusco; and one infant sister. Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at First Assembly of God, Great Bend. Pastor Dwight D. Dozier will officiate. Burial with military rites by the United States Air Force will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials are requested to the First Assembly of God, in care of the funeral home.
