Shirley Lou Smith, 80, died October 25, 2012 at her Great Bend, Kansas, residence. She was born October 28, 1931 at Bunker Hill, Kansas, the daughter of George A. and Margaret Ellen (Peck) Hanzlick. She married Herbert Alexander Ehrlich May 26, 1950 at Ellis, Kansas. He died December 22, 1969. She then married William E. Smith in 1977. He died in 1995. Mrs. Smith was a Great Bend resident for fifteen years, coming from Yorktown, Texas. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Great Bend. She was an active volunteer. Survivors include two sons: Mike Ehrlich, Cuero, Texas; and Jeff Ehrlich and his wife Donna, Park City, Missouri; two daughters: Mary O'Neal and her husband Jeff, Hutchinson, Kansas; and Nancy Ehrlich, Houston, Texas; three brothers: Neil Hanzlick, Springfield, Missouri; George "Jake" Hanzlick, Russell, Kansas; and Dennis Hanzlick, Germany; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Hanzlick. Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5851 Eisenhower, Great Bend. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
