Shelly Len Farmer, 56, died January 29, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born September 7, 1956 at St. Francis, Kansas, the daughter of Lenard and Alice (George) Schlepp. She married John Wayne Strange and they were later divorced. She later married Billy Farmer in 1995 at Great Bend, Kansas. A cook at Cherry Village and Wal-Mart, Mrs. Farmer had been a Great Bend resident since 1995, coming from St. Francis and Hays, Kansas. She enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing. Survivors include her husband, Billy Farmer, of the home; one son, John Strange and companion Rain, Independence, Kansas; two daughters: Jennifer Freel, Independence; and Janie Bryant and her husband Marcus, Great Bend; one sister, Susan Roelfs, St. Francis; two brothers: Rick Schlepp, Salina, Kansas; and Stan Schlepp of Maryland; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Riley Strange; and former husband, John Wayne Strange. Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, St. Francis, at a later date. Memorials are requested to the funeral expense fund, in care of the funeral home.
