Ruth Ilene Miller, 93, died August 23, 2013 at Sterling House of Great Bend, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born October 12, 1919 at El Dorado, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Mildred (Kirkman) Brackeen. She married John R. "Jack" Miller October 4, 1941 at Great Bend. She was secretary for several firms, including Phillips Petroleum Co. Drilling Tools Division, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Miller was a Great Bend resident since 1994, moving fourteen times, having lived in many states. Mrs. Miller was a member of First Christian Church, Great Bend. Survivors include her husband, John R. "Jack" Miller, of the home; one son, John R. Miller, Jr. and his wife Chloellen, Woodbridge, Virginia; one daughter, Monica Koenigsberg, PhD, San Angelo, Texas; one brother, Bob Brackeen and his wife Pat, Joplin, Missouri; two grandchildren: Semra Staut and Evan Miller and his wife Tonya Anderson; and one great-granddaughter, Audrey Miller. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eledra Fuhr and Betty Bailey; and one brother, Billy Brackeen. Private graveside services were held in Great Bend Cemetery with the Reverend William F. Johnson officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are requested to First Christian Church or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
