Ronald J. Karlin, 74, died July 30, 2011 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born September 26, 1936 at Hays, the son of Henry W. and Evelyn M. (Rupp) Karlin. He married Virginia Dufford Wysong June 7, 1958 at Larned, Kansas. A Great Bend resident since 1943, coming from Hays, Mr. Karlin was an area salesman for Frito-Lay, retiring after twenty-one years. Mr. Karlin was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish and Lake Barton Golf Club. He was an avid golfer and gardener, and enjoyed his dogs. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Karlin, of the home; one son, Doug Karlin and wife Natalie, Colwich, Kansas; three daughters: Kathy Hayes and husband Jim, Great Bend; Christi Roy and husband Rodney, Hays; and Diana Hocker, Bedford, Pennsylvania; two sisters: Lucille David, Great Bend; and June Hillman, Great Bend; and nine grandchildren: Jenna Hayes, Eric Hayes, Jason Roy, Kellie Roy, Josh Roy, Sarah Hocker, Ryan Hocker, Kayden Karlin, and Austin Karlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Donna Linke. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Concelebrants will be Father Charles Mazouch and Father Don Bedore. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery North. Friends may call from noon to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Pawnee County Humane Society or Holy Family School, in care of the funeral home.
