Ronald L. "Ron" Royer, age 79, passed away November 14, 2015, at Almost Home, Inc., Great Bend, KS. He was born April 6, 1936, at Sunbury, PA, to John W. and Verna (Bartlow) Royer. Ron married Fern D. Ochs July 17, 1955, at Otis, KS. A Great Bend, KS, resident since 1993, coming from Otis, Ron owned and operated Ochs, Inc., of Otis. In his retirement, he enjoyed substituting for U.S.D. 428, gardening, and woodworking. He served in the U.S. Air Force earning the rank of Airman 2nd Class. Ron was a charter member of Grace Community Church of Great Bend, where he served as an elder and assisted with the Awana children's ministry. He was instrumental in the implementation of the Otis E.M.S. in 1972, and was past president of both the Rush County Memorial Hospital board and Youthville. Ron served as past president of Western Farm Implement Dealers Association, and a member of Lionel Collectors Club of America. Survivors include Fern D. Royer, of the home; three sons, Eric Royer and wife Shannon of Otis, Kurt Royer and wife Jacque of Great Bend, Everett Royer and wife Stephanie of Otis; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Royer, John Royer and wife Sara, Kristen Ziegler and husband Justin, Renee Royer, and Sean Royer; two great grandchildren, Collin McGinnis and Mason Royer; two step grandsons, Nick Richter and wife Amber, Jesse Richter and Stephanie Woodral; three step great grandchildren, Kaito Richter, Briley Richter, and Braxton Richter. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Grace Community Church in Great Bend, with Rev. Jay Beuoy. Interment will be at Otis Methodist Cemetery, at 2:30 p.m., with military rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Almost Home, Inc. or Kans for Kids, in care of Bryant Funeral Home
