Robert Otto Baird, 63, died September 13, 2010 at Southwind Hospice, Pratt, Kansas. He was born September 23, 1946 at Walsh, Colorado, the son of Robert Leo and Mary Lou (Pollard) Baird. He married Betty Lewis November 15, 1987 at Great Bend, Kansas. A Pratt resident since 1994, coming from Great Bend, Mr. Baird was an oilfield truck driver and dispatcher. Mr. Baird was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Betty Baird, of the home; four sons: Brian Baird, California; Scott Baird, San Jose, California; Wesley Cherry and wife, Amy, Pratt; and Austin Caruthers and wife Tracy, Midland, Texas; two daughters: Stacy Nothdurft, El Cajon, California; and Leslie Cherry, Great Bend; five sisters: Etta Mae Walty, Lake Stevens, Washington; Karen Sisler, Sebree, Kentucky; Roberta Logan, Wichita, Kansas; Linda Beauchaine, Vallejo, California; and Gloria Schroeder, Sarasota, Florida; one brother, Gary Baird, Richland, Texas; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; and two brothers, Jimmie Baird and Danny Baird. Graveside memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. The Reverend Dick Ogle will preside. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to the Robert Baird Expense Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
