Richard John Linenberger, 57, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021, at his home in Great Bend, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 6, 1964, in Great Bend, to Sylvester Cletus and Mary Evelyn (Lichter) Linenberger. He married Anne Hendee on Oct. 23, 1999, in Great Bend.

A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was a Great Bend High School graduate (1982), attended Barton Community College and Fort Hays State University. Most recently he worked at CKMC/St. Rose/GBRH as a licensed radiological technologist. Over the years, he was also employed at The Pastry Shop, Mr. Burger, Titus Farms, Reed Pipe Testing, Leroy Farms, Fire Safety, UPS, Petro-log, and others.

Also known affectionately as Biscuit, Frank, Chicken and Richie, Richard had a way of brightening every room he entered and, when he left, everything was a little duller. He had a natural warmth and quick wit that drew people to him. He pitched in wherever needed, helping his mother with yard chores, lending a hand to friends, and volunteering at the Knights of Columbus.

Richard was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Knights of Columbus Council #862, BPOE Elks Lodge #1127, and attended Trinity Lutheran Church. His time on Earth was too short, but he lived his life fully and accomplished what was most important to him – building a joyful life with his wife, raising three remarkable and fiercely loved children, celebrating life events with his large family, enjoying his beloved circle of friends, engaging in favorite hobbies like golf, fishing, hunting, and playing cards with any and all of the above. There are many card tables and golf tournaments that will now be one man short.

Survivors include his wife, Anne; children Elizabeth Rose, William John and Joseph Dell, all of the home; mother, Mary Evelyn Linenberger of Great Bend; three brothers, Christopher Linenberger, Craig Linenberger and Stephen Linenberger, all of Great Bend; three sisters, Lori Linenberger and husband Dale Goter of Wichita, Lisa Reser and husband Scott of Ellinwood, and Linda Shaw of Denver, Colorado; mother-in-law Julie Hendee of Centennial, Colorado; brother-in-law Eric Hendee and wife Rebecca, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; nieces and nephews Ashley Razak and husband Kyle, Emily Thornton and husband Joel, Robert Reser and wife Lisa, Rachel Shorter and husband Jordan, Sara Potter and husband Brian, Aspen Linenberger and fiancée Michelle Roth, Dylan Shaw, Davin Hendee, and Peyton Hendee; great nieces and nephews, Harper Razak, Hudson Razak, Kobe Debes, Kade Debes,  Ashlyn Snowden, Danica Thornton, Isabelle Shorter, Hannah Shorter, Jaxon Potter,  Brooks Potter, and Kaeden Linenberger; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in passing by his father, infant daughter Kathryn Grace, father-in-law Darvin Hendee, and brother-in-law Larry Shaw.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore presiding. Visitation will be noon to 9 p.m. Monday, March 29, with a vigil at 7 p.m. and family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home.
