Raymond K. Morgan, 81, died October 13, 2010 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood, Kansas. He was born May 21, 1929 at Arkansas City, Kansas, the son of James and Allie (King) Morgan. He married Irene Emily Elliott May 23, 1949 at Arkansas City. Ray and Irene have resided in Great Bend since 1950, coming here from Arkansas City. Ray worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a freight operator. He was a long-time employee of Larrys Garden Center. He then retired from the City of Great Bend Park Department after twenty-two years of service. He enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, attending area sports events and coffee with friends at the local coffee shop. Ray always appreciated a good joke. Survivors include his wife, Irene Emily Morgan, of the home; six sons: Ken Morgan and wife Jody, Valdez, Alaska; Dan Morgan and wife Joan, Durham, North Carolina; Russ Morgan and wife Ronda, El Dorado, Kansas; Kim Morgan and wife Patty, Owasso, Oklahoma; David Morgan and wife Angel, Ellinwood; and John Morgan and wife Kayleen, Buhler, Kansas; four daughters: Orlena Allen and husband Skip, Stafford, Kansas; Nona Smith and husband Chuck, Great Bend; Rose Barton and husband Bob, Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Lisa Morgan and husband Stan Allison, Great Bend; twenty-one grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Morgan and Joe Morgan; and one sister, Sarah Grimes. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Reverend Ron Moser officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been established with Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the funeral home.
