Ray Alois Moeder, 83, died December 23, 2007 at his Great Bend, Kansas, residence. He was born September 10, 1924 to Edward and Ida Penka Moeder at Odin, Kansas. He married Bernadine Demel April 8, 1947 at Odin. Mr. Moeder began employment and later became president of Western Truck Equipment, where he has worked for over fifty years. He worked hard to continually provide for his family. A lifetime Barton County resident, Mr. Moeder was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army. Mr. Moeder was a member of the B. P. O. Elks Lodge 1127, American Legion Argonne Post 180, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Morris-McFadden Post 3111, Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, and the Knights of Columbus, all of Great Bend. Survivors include his wife, Bernadine, of the home; seven son, Ray J. Moeder and wife, Carol, Larned, Kansas, Don Moeder and wife, Marilyn, Great Bend, Kansas, Ken Moeder, Alan Moeder and wife Gail both of Great Bend, Kansas, Bob Moeder of Lenexa, Kansas, Randy Moeder and wife, Patty, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Pat Moeder and wife, Amy, Winter Springs, Florida; five daughters, Joyce Moeder, Columbia, Maryland, Jolene Biggs and husband, Craig, Great Bend, Kansas, Linda Salem and husband, Bob, Salina, Kansas, Brenda Moeder, Warrensburg, Missouri, and Renee Rockers and husband, Wes, Evansville, Indiana; four brothers, Leo Moeder, Odin, Kansas, Eddie Moeder, Hutchinson, Kansas, Larry Moeder, Great Bend, Kansas, and Rich Moeder, Great Bend, Kansas; three sisters, Monica Schneider, Olmitz, Kansas, Vi Prosser, Larned, Kansas, and Mary Ann Fischer, Plainville, Kansas; twenty-two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Schmidt, and two brothers, Leonard Moeder and August Moeder. Vigil service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2007 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Fathers Wesley Schawe and Dermot Tighe officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas, with military rites conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Bryant Funeral Home. A memorial in Mr. Moeder's name has been established with the BCCC Foundation Memorial Scholarship for Donna Moeder or Central Kansas Medical Center Foundation for the benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center, both in care of the funeral home.
