Pearl Margaret Mater, 96, died February 4, 2011 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born December 30, 1914 at Rush County, Kansas, the daughter of Oliver Jefferson and Julie Marie (Koochel) Crowell. She married Edward N. Mater September 12, 1933 at Olmitz, Kansas. He died October 26, 1975. A longtime resident of Olmitz and formerly of Hays, Mrs. Mater was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a former employee of High Plains Mental Development, Hays. Mrs. Mater was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz. Survivors include one son: Eugene Mater, Olmitz, Kansas; and his fiancee, Rose Ann Sipes, Ellis, Kansas; one sister: Dorothy Holopirek, LaCrosse, Kansas; five grandchildren: Dr. Marie Mater Summerville and husband Dr. Joe, Magnolia, Texas; Sandra Mater Erb and husband Mark, Magnolia, Texas; Carrie Mater, Wichita, Kansas; Audrey Mater Kirkman and husband Chad, Wichita; and Sarah Mater, Wichita; and one great-grandson, Tyler Erb. Wake service will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Father Ultan Murphy. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
