Oscar Deines, 97, died January 14, 2010 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born October 10, 1912 at Russell, Kansas, the son of Peter Theodore and Minnie Pauline (Krug) Deines. A longtime resident of Hoisington, Kansas, Mr. Deines was retired from KPL and Missouri-Pacific Railroad. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Deines was a member of Hoisington Bible Church and a life member of the American Legion Post #286, both of Hoisington. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Deines was preceded in death by four brothers: Siegmund, Lawrence, Emil, and Clarence Deines; and five sisters: Tabea Wiedeman, Esther Flaglor, Rosa Rumpel, Claire Eichman, and Lillian Huber. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2010 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. The Reverend Gary Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Hoisington Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #286 and VFW Post #7428. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Hoisington Bible Church, in care of the funeral home.
