Olinda Wegele, 86, died Feb.6 at Elms Haven Care Center in Thornton, Colo. She was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Barton County, the daughter of John and Mary (Dumler) Niedens. She married J. Ernest Wegele on Feb. 23, 1941, in Milberger. He died Dec. 15, 1999. She was a homemaker and lifetime resident of the Galatia and Otis area. She was a member of United Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger. Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Zavodny, and her husband, Tom, of Silverthorne, Colo.; a son, Allen Wegele, and his wife, Delores, of Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by nine brothers, Henry, Alex, George, Fred, Jake, Ed, Rudy, Sam and Emanuel Niedens, and three sisters, Tilly Dumler, Rosie Dumler, and Alvina Deutsch. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, with Pastor Amy Austin officiating. Burial will be at Milberger Cemetery in Milberger. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, and from 11:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorder Association.
