Oella Nellie (Martz) Peugh, age 95, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Brakebill Nursing Home. She was born October 8, 1913 near Galatia, Kansas. She grew up in Hoisington, Kansas, graduating from Hoisington High School. She played piano for dance classes, became a portrait colorist painter when she and Selden Peugh purchased a photography studio in Hoisington, Kansas about 1939. In 1968 Oella and Selden moved to Dallas, TX and worked for Meisel Photochrome, a company serving professional photographers. Oella continued her painting along with her love of gardening. She was a member of First Christian Church in Knoxville, TN since 1980 and was preceded in death by her husband Selden I. Peugh in 1979. Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law JoAnn and Ed Niedens of Knoxville, TN; son Isham Peugh of Lexington, MA, 3 grandchildren Debbie Fettig, her husband Mark; Evan and Ryan Peugh; and one step-great grandson, Josh Fettig. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to First Christian Church, 211 West Fifth Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., at the Hoisington Cemetery with Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in charge of services.
