Myra Ellen (Carlisle) Smith, 89, died March 19, 2011 at Rush County Nursing Home, LaCrosse, Kansas. She was born May 5, 1921 at Coldwater, Kansas, the daughter of Floyd Denman and Tacy Ellen (Beitler) Carlisle. She married Ivan G. Smith March 15, 1943 at Hoisington, Kansas. He died May 25, 2001. She was a longtime Hoisington resident. Mrs. Smith was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Survivors include one son: Rodney Smith, Great Bend, Kansas; one daughter: Janice Dyer, Hoisington; nine grandchildren: Darin Dyer, Michele Hitschmann, Stephanie Royer, Melanie Urban, Rachael Colby, Jennifer Vratil, Ryan Smith, and Annika Smith; nineteen great-grandchildren: Austin Smith, Audrey Pray, Sydney Dyer, Ethan Hitschmann, Taylor Hitschmann, Renee Royer, Sean Royer, Kole Urban, Kade Urban, Darren Colby, Shelby Colby, Trenton Colby, Kendall Colby, Taylor Vratil, Brooke Vratil, Braden Vratil, Kade Vratil, Austin McNown, and Rylee Smith; and three step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Tacy Smith and an infant daughter, Karen Smith; two brothers, Elwood C. Carlisle and Glen E. Carlisle; one sister, Elva Ruth Meadows; and one grandson, Grant Arthur Dyer. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, Hoisington with the Reverend Kris Brinlee officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 21, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church. Memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church or Sunflower Diversified Services, in care of the funeral home.
