Mona Ewing, 57, died June 27, 2009 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born January 7, 1952 at Seminole, Oklahoma, the daughter of Furman R. and Hazel E. (Smith) Guinn. She married Gary Ewing July 21, 1970 at Great Bend, Kansas. He died October 8, 2006. A longtime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Ewing was the Director of the Noah's Ark Preschool, Great Bend. Mrs. Ewing was a member of First United Methodist Church and Barton County Fair Friends. Survivors include one son, Christopher Ewing and wife, Lindsay, Pawnee Rock, Kansas; two daughters: Melissa Widiger and husband, Billy, Jr., Great Bend, Kansas; and Stephanie Davis and husband, Rick III, Great Bend, Kansas; one brother, Larry Guinn, Great Bend, Kansas; and nine grandchildren: Anissa Widiger, Jordan Ewing, Korbin Ewing, Jaxen Davis, Zachary Seymour, Lauryn Davis, Nevaeh Green, Ayanna Ewing, and Kameah Ewing. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Tom Sheldon officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery North. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials in Mrs. Ewing's name have been established with the Noah's Ark Preschool or the Barton County Fair Friends, both in care of the funeral home.
