Mildred Lorraine Werner, 78, died March 15, 2010 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born September 5, 1931 at Pfeifer, Kansas, the daughter of Alex and Tina (Schupman) Jacobs. She married Alvin Unrein, Sr., April 13, 1948. She later married Lewis Robert Werner March 25, 1967 at Blackwell, Oklahoma. He died October 7, 1997. A homemaker, Mrs. Werner was a Great Bend resident for forty-five years, coming from LaCrosse, Kansas. Mrs. Werner was a member of the Roman Catholic faith. Survivors include two sons: Alvin Unrein, Jr. and wife Barbara, Assaria, Kansas; and Raymond Unrein and wife Tamara, Beloit, Kansas; two daughters: Sharon Otter and husband Paul, Great Bend; and Velda Gates and husband Arlen, Hutchinson, Kansas; two brothers: Bill Jacobs and wife Ann, Casa Grande, Arizona; and Larry Jacobs and wife Roxy, Wellington, Kansas; one sister, Esther Smith, Houston, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Alex Jacobs, Jr.; and two sisters, Ruby Lambrechtse and Elsie Lewis. Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Great Bend Cemetery. Father Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Friends may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Mildred L. Werner Expense Fund or Golden Belt Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home.
