Mike A. Hoge, 63, died March 11, 2008 at his Great Bend, Kansas, residence. He was born June 22, 1944 at Lyons, Kansas, the son of John A. and Helen Damon Hoge. He graduated from Great Bend High School and Fort Hays State University with a B. S. in education and business. He also attended Kansas University. Mr. Hoge was an ad salesman for the Lyons Daily News and the Great Bend Tribune, residing in Great Bend since 1946. Mr. Hoge was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and formerly played in the Great Bend City Band. Survivors include one sister, Marsha McConnaughy and husband, Clarence, Dodge City, Kansas; one nephew, Kyle P. McConnaughy and wife, Kerry; two cousins, Donald Damon and wife, Kathy, Great Bend, Kansas, and Kenneth Damon and wife, Trudy, Great Bend, Kansas; two grandnephews; one grandniece; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Bertha B. Blessing; and an aunt, Thelma Barton. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Reverend Diana Coberly officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2008 and from 9:00 a.m. to service time, Saturday, March 16, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the First Congregational United Church of Christ or the Great Bend City Band, both in care of the funeral home.
