GREAT BEND - Meta Anna Bertha Oetken, 91, died July 8, 2009 at Cherry Village, Great Bend. She was born November 26, 1917 to Otto and Marie Hanken Rankin in Rush County, Kansas and was a lifetime resident of Albert until moving to Cherry Village in 2004. She married Louis J. Oetken January 28, 1940 at Peace Lutheran Church. He died July 23, 1997. Survivors include daughter Vallene Immenschuh and husband Carl; son Gerald Oetken and wife Karen all of Larned; and daughter Rita Gagelman, Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren, a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother and a son-in-law. She was a homemaker and for a few years owned and operated the Albert Grocery in Albert. She was a lifetime member of Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, and served in many capacities on various church boards and was a Sunday School teacher. She was active in 4-H and the Hillside EHU. Funeral will be Monday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Sunday July 12, at Bryant Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
