Melissa Dawn Shuey, 24, died September 18, 2008 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born July 23, 1984 at Hoisington, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph C. and Cassandra Jo (Schmidt) Shuey. A CNA and CMA, Miss Shuey was a lifetime Barton County, Kansas, resident, who was a very caring, loving mother, daughter, and friend. Survivors include her father and step-mother, Joseph and Darla Shuey, Great Bend, Kansas; mother, Cassandra Jo Shuey and Jeff Risher, Lamar, Missouri; common-law husband, William Cody Watson, of the home; daughter, Molly Jo Watson, of the home; adopted brother, Roger King, Russell, Kansas; and paternal grandparents, Roger and Marion Shuey. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dave and Pat Schmidt. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Interment will be in Claflin Cemetery, Claflin, Kansas. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2008 and from 9:00 a.m. to service time, Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home.
