Megan E. Escalante, 30, died September 6, 2011 in Reno County. She was born January 13, 1981 at Russell, Kansas the daughter of John M. and Catherine R. (Munk) Debes. She married Christopher A. Escalante on July 19, 2008 at Topeka Kansas. Megan grew up in Hoisington, lived in Topeka for eleven years moving back to Hoisington in 2010, she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and a 1999 graduate of Hoisington High School, received her Associates Degree from Washburn University, Topeka and her Bachelors Degree in Clinical Science from Wichita State University in 2010. She worked at Clara Barton Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Survivors include her husband, Chris of the home, parents, John and Catherine Debes, Hoisington; parents-in-law, Alex and Emma Escalante, Topeka, KS; brother, Captain Joshua M. Debes and his wife Julia, Fairfax, VA., two brother-in-laws, Anthony Escalante and wife Ann, Topeka, KS.; Scott Escalante and wife Erin Nicole, San Antonio, TX; four nieces and one nephew "The Escalante Family", and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington, KS. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father Francis Oroffa will be celebrant. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
