Maxine Nicholson, 75, died on September 23, 2009 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was bon on August 19, 1934 at Bentonville, Arkansas the daughter of Harry and Anna Ullrich Underwood. On December 31, 1951 she married John Nicholson at Clayton, New Mexico. He died on January 8, 1990. She was a homemaker and a former secretary for Evansco for 10 years. She was a member of the First Southern Baptis Church and the Elks Lodge. Survivors include, two sons, Leonard Nicholson, Hoisington, Kansas and Jim Nicholson, Longmont, Colorado; one daughter, Vicki Weber, Great Bend, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Jody Erb, David Weber, Scott Weber, Tyson Nicholson, John Nicholson, Joshua Nicholson, Derek Nicholson and Kim McHenry and nine great-grandchildren. Maxine was preceded in death by an infant son, John Nicholson and a brother, Gene Underwood. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the First Southern Baptist Church, Great Bend with the Reverend Dr.Doyle Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Barton County Relay for Life in care of the funeral home.
