Mary Collins Strecker, 72, died October 18, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital-St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas. She was born February 25, 1935 at Wilson, Kansas, the daughter of John Nelson and Stella Florence Spears Davis. On November 27, 1955, she married Dennis D. Strecker at Russell, Kansas. He survives. Mrs. Strecker was an Avon Lady for 36 years. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Eagle's Auxiliary, Cheyenne Sportsman's Club and TOPS, all of Great Bend. Survivors include her husband, Dennis, Sr. of the home, two sons, Dennis D. Strecker, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Great Bend, and John N. Strecker and wife, Lisa of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; one brother, Kenneth "Bud" Pekarek of Great Bend; one sister, Linda Zubillaga and husband, Vaughn of Chase, Kansas; two grandchildren, Christopher Strecker and Katie Strecker; two step-grandchildren, Hope Vaughn and Josh Vaughn and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Vaughn. Mrs. Strecker was preceded in death by two daughters, an infant and Roxanne Strecker; one sister, Betty Jane "Pat" Soucek; and one sister-in-law, Carrie Lee Pekarek. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2007 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Great Bend, with Pastor Adam Wutka officiating. Interment will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Russell, Kansas. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Mark Building Fund or Great Bend Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
