Mary Alice Stetler, 81, died June 26, 2012 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. She was born July 23, 1930 at Liebenthal, Kansas, the daughter of Marcus and Magdalena (Herrman) Depperschmidt. She married John A. Stetler January 4, 1949 at Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He died August 31, 2001. A lifelong Barton County resident, Mrs. Stetler was a homemaker. Mrs. Stetler was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, the Altar Society, both of Olmitz; VFW Women's Auxiliary, Hoisington; Great Bend Eagle's Lodge; and she enjoyed bowling and watching grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include one son, Kevin Stetler and his wife Pam, Hoisington; one daughter, Kay Fitzsimmons and her husband John, Albert, Kansas; three sisters: Patty Hasenfratz, Rush Center, Kansas; Ida John, California; and JoAnn Fincher, LaCrosse, Kansas; three brothers: Edward Depperschmidt, Rush Center, Kansas; Charles Depperschmidt, LaCrosse; and Dennis Depperschmidt, Rush Center; and five grandchildren: Michael Lee "Boomer" Stetler, John Matthew Fitzsimmons and his wife Megan, Leslie Nicole Fitzsimmons, Zachary John Stetler, and Cody Lee Stetler. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Johnny Mike Stetler; two brothers, LaVerne Depperschmidt and Gerald Depperschmidt; and one sister, Rosie Krom. Wake service and Altar Society Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Ann Catholic Church. Father Ultan Murphy will be celebrant. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Burial will be in Golden Belt Memorial Park, Barton County, Kansas. Memorials are requested to Kans for Kids or St. Ann Parish, in care of the funeral home.
