Mary Lala Rubio, 82, died March 16, 2010 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. She was born January 30, 1928 at Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of Joe D. and Aurora (Martinez) Arguello. She married Catarino Rubio September 11, 1944 at Raton, New Mexico. He died October 20, 2001. A resident of Hoisington since 1948, coming from Pueblo, Mrs. Rubio was a retired CNA, working at the Homestead Villa, Hoisington, for more than twenty years. Mrs. Rubio was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and VFW Auxiliary #7428, both of Hoisington. Survivors include two sons: Martin Rubio and wife Linda, Hoisington; and Johnny Rubio and wife Bonnie, Lawton, Pennsylvania; six daughters: Josephine Merchant, Glasco, Kansas; Irene Gallentine, Hoisington; Ramona Hoch and husband Leonard, Russell, Kansas; Kathy Noblitt and husband Bill, Hoisington; Juanita Heinrich and husband John, Great Bend, Kansas; and Bernice Baker and husband Joe, Hoisington; one sister, Evelyn Jimenez, Pueblo, Colorado; thirty-one grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Willie Rubio; one daughter, Frances Hoch; four brothers; three sisters; and three grandsons, David Gallentine, Zachary Rubio, and Will Rubio. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 19, 2010 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Father Dwight Birket. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Hoisington. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday; from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
