Mary Florence Rollins, 84, died October 23, 2008 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born September 8, 1924 at Brogetta, Texas, the daughter of William and Bonnie (Coker) Townes. Mrs. Rollins was raised in Wilburton, Oklahoma. She married Robert R. Rollins in 1951 at Ponca City, Oklahoma. He died in 1992. A resident of Ellinwood, Kansas, for fifty-two years, coming from Ponca City, Mrs. Rollins was a retired registered nurse at Ellinwood District Hospital. Mrs. Rollins was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood. Survivors include one daughter, Jan Watkins and husband, Kerry, Ellinwood, Kansas; two sisters: Ruby Slater, Sequin, Texas; and Billie Broadus, Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren: Casse Watkins, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Scott Watkins, Kearney, Nebraska; and one great-grandchild, Gage Watkins. She was preceded in death by one brother and eight sisters. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 27, 2008 at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood. The Reverend Larry Young will officiate. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to the Barton County Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
