Mary L. Mullenix, 91, died September 19, 2008 at her Bushton, Kansas, residence. She was born March 21, 1917 at Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Virginia (Lauderdale) Alexander. She married Raymond T. Mullenix March 7, 1937 at Hutchinson. He died October 18, 2002. A homemaker and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, Mrs. Mullenix was a Bushton resident, coming from Lyons, Kansas, where she graduated from Lyons High School in 1935. Mrs. Mullenix was a member of First United Methodist Church, UMW Circle, and taught nursery and Sunday School for many years. Survivors include five daughters: Shirley Jeter and husband, Earl, Kingfisher, Oklahoma; Karen Sunderland and husband, Guy, Great Bend, Kansas; Trudy Magee, Bloomington, Illinois; Nora Anderson and husband, Lyle, Bloomington, Indiana; Deanna Harris and husband, Ed, Overland Park, Kansas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia McCandless and a granddaughter, Mandi Alexander. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Bushton, Kansas. The Reverend Gene Langhofer will officiate. Burial will be in Bushton Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 22, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to service time, Tuesday at the church. Memorials in Mrs. Mullenix's name are requested to the First United Methodist Church or the Bushton First Responders, both in care of the funeral home.
