She married Maurice Bunk June 15, 1936 at Council Grove. He died December 18, 1999. Mrs. Bunk was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lilly Kaechele; and one brother, Floyd. She is survived by her son, Joe Bunk and his wife, Donna, Wichita, Kansas; daughter Barbara Lucas and husband, William, Lexington, Massachusetts; and grandchildren, Christopher Lucas, Berkeley, California; and Ashley Lucas, Lexington, Massachusetts. She was born and raised at Council Grove, graduating as class valedictorian from Council Grove High School. She was a devoted wife for sixty-three years, and was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Bunk was a resident of Hoisington, Kansas, for more than sixty years. She was also a member of the PEO sisterhood, and helped deliver Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Bunk was a graceful hostess, who loved working with her hands and was a gifted seamstress, quilt-maker, knitter, and gardener. Friends and family received beautiful quilts and afghans over the years. She was also a master bridge player and at one time, a very avid golfer. While she enjoyed traveling to different countries to appreciate the people and the scenery, Maurice captured the moments using his love of photography.
