Martina M. Luebbers, 92, died December 5, 2010 at Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. She was born March 17, 1918 at Marienthal, Kansas, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Lauber) Younger. She married Joseph Luebbers May 3, 1949 at Hoisington, Kansas. He died March 15, 1977. A longtime Claflin, Kansas, resident, coming from Hoisington, Mrs. Luebbers was a homemaker and the Claflin librarian from 1971 to 1988. She loved to read, and play bingo and cards. She played in the Woodhaven Care Center Bell Choir, Ellinwood. Mrs. Luebbers was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and the Ralph B. Praeger VFW Auxiliary, all of Claflin. Survivors include three sons: Michael Luebbers and wife Dawn Dupler, Ballwin, Missouri; Bill Luebbers and wife Becky, Hoisington; and Andy Luebbers, Claflin; one daughter, Susan Weber and husband Roy, Hoisington; two sisters: Mary Ann Funk, Galatia, Kansas; and Betty Shaver, Quinlan, Texas; one brother, Jerome Younger, Emporia, Kansas; four grandchildren: Chris Weber and wife Anne; Tracey McKenna and husband Brett; Corliss Luebbers; and Riley Luebbers; two step-granddaughters and two-step-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Younger, Paul Younger, and Leonard Younger. Vigil service with Altar Society rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father Charles Mazouch will be celebrant. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Activity Fund of Woodhaven Care Center or Claflin Ambulance Fund, both in care of the funeral home.
