Martha J. Shobe, 65, died October 6, 2009 at her Great Bend, Kansas, residence. She was born December 3, 1943 at Great Bend, the daughter of Chester L. and Dorothy M. (Hunter) Shobe. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Miss Shobe was a Rosewood Services worker. Miss Shobe was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Great Bend, and R.E.A.C.H. Survivors include one brother, Franklin Shobe, Muncie, Indiana; twin-sister, Margaret Shobe, Great Bend, Kansas; two nephews: David Shobe and Martin Shobe; one niece, Nora Fletcher; step-niece, Mary Ellen Hobson; and two aunts, Mary Small and Novice Shobe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Dorothy Shobe; uncles John Shobe, Robert Small, Fred Kinsinger, Lionel Hunter, and Russell Hunter; and aunts Ruth Kinsinger, Ethyl Hunter, and Sadie Hunter. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2009 at First United Methodist Church, Great Bend. The Reverend Tom Sheldon will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Rosewood Roots and Wings Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
