Marjorie F. Simmons, 82, died August 9, 2010 at Central Kansas Medical Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born September 9, 1927 at Scottdale, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Otto and Nellie (Fisher) Burke. She married Frederick Edward Simmons in July 1963 at Phoenix, Arizona. He died in 1973. A Great Bend resident since 2002, coming from Phoenix, Mrs. Simmons was a laborer for Honeywell Industries. Survivors include one son, Brian Simmons and wife Yvonne, Great Bend; one step-son, Richard Simmons, California; one sister, Evelyn Kaper, Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren: Matthew, David, Jacob, and Joanna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Edward Simmons; two brothers: Donald Burke and Clifford Burke; and three sisters: Leona Barron, Laura White, and Mildred Kuhn. Graveside service will be at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Kevin Franklin will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials are requested to First Bible Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
