Marjorie Elizabeth Schrater, 88, died December 23, 2011 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born December 10, 1923 at Alexander, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel and Catherine (Wilhelm) Yost. She married Vernon Edward Schrater October 7, 1944 at Alexander. He died February 28, 2010. A Great Bend resident since 1960, coming from Timken, Kansas, Mrs. Schrater was a farm wife and bookkeeper for Rowlands and Whitesell Lumber Company. Mrs. Schrater was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Great Bend. Survivors include two sons: Steven Kent Schrater and his wife Kathy, Guthrie, Oklahoma; and Roger Vernon Schrater and his wife Jeanita, Albany, Oregon; five grandchildren: Mike Schrater and his wife Jo; Jared Schrater and his wife Kerri; Kristtoffer Schrater and his wife Melissa; Karsten Schrater and his wife Misty; and Terri Jo Glover and her husband Brent; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Gene Yost and Glenn Yost; and one sister, Juanita May Brenning. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Ryan Lynch will officiate. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or American Legion Argonne Post 180, in care of the funeral home.
