Marion Jean Hicks, 49, died March 18, 2011 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. She was born January 31, 1962 at Newport, Rhode Island, the daughter of Eugene and Marion (Hendry) Benavidez. She married Gordon Hicks April 15, 2004 at Hoisington. A Hoisington resident since 2001, coming from Alva, Oklahoma, she was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Gordon Hicks, of the home; her father, Eugene Benavidez; her mother, Marion Benavidez; two sons: Josh Bluemel and Jeromy Bluemel, both of Brigham City, Vermont; one daughter, Anita Brown, Alva; two sisters, Teresa Evans, Clinton, Vermont; and Tina Brock, Garland, North Carolina; one brother: Leo Benavidez, Lugoff, South Carolina; and five grandchildren. Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. The Reverend Dick Ogle will officiate. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2011 and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Barton County Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
