Marie T. Demel, 86, died September 4, 2008 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born November 6, 1921 at Olmitz, Kansas, the daughter of John and Judith (Mater) Schneider. She married Clarence S. Demel May 27, 1947 at Olmitz, Kansas. He died June 18, 1996. A homemaker, Mrs. Demel lived in Odin, Kansas, for sixty-one years, moving from Olmitz. Mrs. Demel was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Odin. Survivors include two daughters: Pauline Tajchman, Great Bend, Kansas; and Judith Demel, Claflin, Kansas; and two sisters: Delores Frenzl, Hoisington, Kansas; and Mildred Reif, Claflin, Kansas. She was preceded in death by one brother, Martin Schneider. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2008, followed by Altar Society Rosary at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 8, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, with Father Dwight Birket celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Claflin Ambulance Fund or Holy Family Cemetery, both in care of the funeral home.
