Lynn D. Shives, 81, died August 18, 2008 at his residence. He was born November 18, 1926 at Hoisington, Kansas, the son of William and Pansy (McClane) Shives. He married Clementine Billinger May 7, 1951 at St. Peter, Kansas. A longtime Hoisington resident, he was a retired oilfield worker. Mr. Shives was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus Council #1521, Hoisington. Survivors include his wife, Clementine Shives, of the home; three sons: William J. Shives, Hoisington, Kansas; Ronnie L. Shives and wife, Nancy, Hoisington, Kansas; and James L. Shives and wife, Anita, Evanston, Wyoming; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daython Shives and a sister, Dolores Newell. Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2008, followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2008 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father Dwight Birket will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials in Mr. Shives' name are requested to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. John Cemetery Fund, or Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
