Lucy E. Cartlidge, 81, died January 9, 2009 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born October 12, 1927 at Ellis County, Kansas, the daughter of John W. and Myrtle (Lowe) Keal. She married James M. Cartlidge December 23, 1945 at Wakeeney, Kansas. He died May 4, 1996. A homemaker, Mrs. Cartlidge was a resident of Great Bend since 1945, moving from Ellis County. Mrs. Cartlidge was a member of St. John Episcopal Church, Great Bend. Survivors include two sons: Don E. Cartlidge and wife, Tambra, Stafford, Kansas; and Jerry Michael "Mike" Cartlidge and wife, Karen, Yukon, Oklahoma; one daughter, Patricia Ann Freese, Great Bend, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Bettie Cheney and husband, Charles, Fort Lawn, South Carolina; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Grant William "Bill" Keal. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 12, 2009 at St. John Episcopal Church, Great Bend. The Reverend Phyllis Flory will officiate. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established with St. John Episcopal Church or Kansas State Geography Department, both in care of the funeral home.
