Russell, KS Lois Jean Scheuerman, 55, passed away at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS on February 20, 2008. Lois was born May 11, 1952 at LaCrosse, KS the daughter of Melvin and Bonnie (Ficken) Decker. She was a graduate of Otis-Bison High School in 1970 and in 1991 she graduate Sum Cum Laude from Fort Hays State University with a BS degree in Graphic Design. On July 25, 1970 Lois Decker married Alan Scheuerman at Otis, KS. She was a Public Relation Director for USD #428 at Great Bend, KS. She was a member of the Kansas Public Employees Relation Association, Bison Museum and former owner of Design Unlimited of Bison. A resident of Bison for 27 years, moving to Russell in 2005. Survivors include, husband, Alan, of the home; daughter Amber Merriman, Ellis, KS; mother, Bonnie Decker, LaCrosse, KS; brother, Dennis Decker, Atlanta, GA; sisters, Sharon Klein, Bison, KS, Sheryl Fischer, Council Grove, KS and Donna Jay, Topeka, KS; a granddaughter, Kiandra Merriam, Ellis, KS. She was preceded in death by a son, Corey Alan Scheuerman. Funeral service will be Saturday (February 23, 2008) at 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, Bison, KS. with the Reverends David Bolz and Joel Maiorano officiating. Interment will be in the Lone Star Cemetery, Rush County, KS. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday and 9:00 am until 10:30 am Saturday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington and from noon until service time Saturday at the Church. The casket will remain closed. Memorials are suggested to the Youth Friends Mentoring Program - USD #428, Great Bend or Schmidt-Dreiling Cancer Center, Hays. both in care of the funeral home.
